Only a month and half left in the school year and much to do.   Here is quick rundown of PTA related activities for May.
  • PES PTA Meeting, Tuesday May 6th, 2014, 7:00 p.m. in Room 18.   I would like to think that all PTA meetings are important, but this coming Tuesday's meeting is especially important for two reasons....

    1.  Spending money:  This year was a very successful year for the PTA.    In addition to all of our advocacy work we have provided a slew of resources to PES thanks to your hard work including over $6000 in classroom supplies for our teachers, $ 6000 in text for the reading center, $2000 for new music stands $3000 in School assemblies plus much, much more..  Due to the overwhelming success of the new fundraising vehicles such as The Golf Tournament, An Evening at Rocklands and Painless Fundraising we are blessed with a surplus a funds for this school year.   At tuesday's meeting we will discuss how best to appropriate those funds.

    2. Board Elections:  At Tuesday's meeting we will elect our PTA board for the 2014/2015 school year.   If you are interested in serving as member of the PTA board please contact myself or one of our current board members for details.
  • MEET THE CANDIDATES -  REVIEW: Last Monday April 28th we hosted our second of three County Executive Meet the Candidate forum's with Phil Andrews.  One of the recurring theme's brought up by both candidates is the that we (Poolesville) need more representation at the county level.   Well, as it turns out, this election year may be just the year to get one of our own elected to the County Council.   Running for an at large seat of the County Council is Dickerson, MD resident Beth Daly.   If you are able please mark your calendar for Thursday, May 22nd 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Cugini's for  meet/greet/fundraiser to support her campaign.  This is our chance to get someone from the Ag reserve at the big kids table, lets do what we can to support.
  • PES Community Service Project:  This Saturday, May 3rd, be at PES any time between 9 and 5 and help us landscape, clean and repair our elementary school grounds. SSL hours available! The PES Community Service Project has arrived! Bring work gloves, rakes and your good attitude! Anyone have a heavy-duty gas powered hedge trimmer? We also need power washers.Lunch will be provided.

If you haven't signed up to volunteer at the book fair please do so today!! We still need volunteers to help the kids during the day, at the GRAND event, and volunteers to do the book talks. The book fair is a lot of fun and we need your help to make it a success. Thanks in advance for volunteering!
