    1. Budget Testimony: On January 17 2012,  Commissioner Jerry Klobukowski and PES Cluster Coordinator Donna Lowell once again gave excellent testimony on our behalf in front of the MCPS School Board.   You can read a copy of Jerry’s testimony (here).  We are very fortunate to have them representing and standing tall for Poolesville.  In early April 2013 it will be time to testify again and we need more voices from our town.  After attending numerous county functions and events and is very transparent that Poolesville can easily be forgotten as we are a small, relatively trouble free community located far, far away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the county. However, our isolation and low population should not deter our kids from receiving the same benefits and tools for learning that other kids in the county receive.  So in addition to fundraising we also need to advocate.   Please consider lending your voice or your child’s voice to provide testimony at the next budget hearing.  Email me if you are interested.

    2.  Boosterthon Success :   Speaking of fundraising …  I am pleased to say that the Boosterthon Fundraising campaign has been a rousing success.   Today was the culminating event “The Fun Run.”  I wasn't there but I heard it was an AWESOME event. The kids had a blast and the school earned over $18,000.  That money can go directly into the classroom and help bring our classrooms technology up to par with other county schools.  GREAT JOB parents and a BIG thanks goes to the all the parents and volunteers that helped make this event a success.

    3. FREE Spaghetti Dinner:  Please join your friends and neighbors for a Poolesville Community Project kickoff Meeting.  Bring the kids and an appetite. Tuesday, February 5th at 5:30 PM in the All Purpose Room,  Please check out the Community Service Webpage to read all about it.  www.pespta.com/communityservice

    4.  PTA Meeting:   After the Spaghetti Dinner we will have our regular monthly PTA meeting in Room 18,  The PTA meeting will begin at 7:15 PM and should conclude by 8:00 PM.  Click (here) to view the agenda.  Thanks go to Global Childrens Center as they will be providing free child care for school aged children during the PTA meeting in room 26.

    See you around town.  thanks

Welcome back to reality.  I hope everyone enjoyed the winter break.  I know I did.  I succeeded in my goal of doing nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.  No travel,  no work,  hung with family and friends, life is good  :)

    Here is some important Stuff:

    1. Our next PTA Meeting is tomorrow (Tuesday Jan 8, 2013 )  at 7:00 PM in Room 18.  The front doors to the school will open at 6:45 pm.  All PTA meetings are important on some level but this one is extra important because most of the meeting will be about School Security.  A lot of security enhancements are being implemented at PES.    Principal Robbins will talk about the enhancements and answer any questions you may have regarding all the new procedures.

    2. Speaking of new Security Procedures...  I encourage everyone to carefully read Principal's Robbins January newsletter.  In case your child is like mine and brings home all flyers in a crumpled mess you can read the newsletter online via this link....http://www.pespta.com/backpack?mode=PostView&bmi=1173454

    3. The PTA is proud to announce yet another After School Enrichment Program for the winter session.    Adventures in Theater for grades K-2. Go to our After School page to find out more and register online. http://www.pespta.com/afterschool

    4. Budget Testimony:  It's Budget Testimony Month and we owe a big thanks Cluster Coordinator Donna Lowell and Commissioner Jerry Klubukowski for testifying on our behalf at the upcoming meetings.  I know it's hard to venture down to Rockville on a weekday evening, but if you are able please try to attend.  You don't have to say anything,  just sitting there and showing your supports speaks volumes to the School Board.   Thursday, January 17th  is the next meeting.    I will be sending out more emails later with more detail about the upcoming testimony.

    5. Our new winter fundraiser Boosterthon is about to kick-off.  The funds raised from this will be used to enhance the technology in our classrooms.  Click here to read all about it.... http://www.pespta.com/boosterthon

That is all for now.  Hope to see you tomorrow at the PTA Meeting.
